Ryan Reynolds Gin
He's one of the most famous actors on the planet thanks to roles in movies including Deadpool, Free Guy, and The Adam Project. However, Canadian-American Ryan Reynolds has also made his name showcasing his sense of humour (mostly ribbing his wife, Blake Lively, and friend Hugh Jackman, on Instagram), shrewd business acumen and talent for off-beat marketing.
Having bought Welsh, fifth tier football club, Wrexham Association Football Club in 2021, his ventures are diverse and based on personal passion. Amongst the first was his foray into the world of gin, when he became the co-owner of Aviation Gin in 2018 - a once low key brand from Oregon that's now amongst the most recognised in the industry.
Ryan Reynolds' journey into the world of gin
As the story goes, Reynolds had always been partial to gin. He made the surprise decision to become a co-owner of the boutique gin producer in the Pacific Northwest, having first become familiar with Aviation American Gin while filming in Vancouver in 2017. It is said he decided to find out more, meeting with co-founders Ryan Magarian and Christian Krogstad in Portland before purchasing a minority stake and declaring it "the best gin on the planet.”
He was a hands-on co-owner, regularly featuring the brand on his own Instagram account. He sold the company for a cool estimated $610 million in 2020, and wrote in a press release:
“A little over two years ago, I became an owner of Aviation Gin because I love the taste of Aviation more than any other spirit. What I didn’t expect was the sheer creative joy learning a new industry would bring."
